Our consultancy team comprises of experienced software engineers/research scientists with many years of experience working explicitly for UN projects.  Our qualifications include three PhDs and four Master’s degrees in related technical and scientific fields. We pride ourselves on hiring personable engineers who understand the importance of user-centered design and strong relationships with our clients. We also have experience in running efficient hiring procedures to meet the expanding needs of our clients. We believe we have a strong corporate network and understand how to attract good engineers.


Dr Jonathan S Berry | Jonathan is a founding member of the team alongside Gunnar and Jyri, working from 2014 as a developer for our public health surveillance project in Jordan and Ukraine. Since then he has managed several national and international public health software projects on behalf of the team, including Meerkat in Jordan and Madagascar, as well as the AIDS Data Repository for UNAIDS Geneva. As Chief Executive Officer and a director of Fjelltopp, he is also responsible for the company's development. Prior to joining the team, he worked as a research associate and completed a PhD in Computer Science at Durham University (UK).

 

 

 

Jyri Soppela | Started working for the team in early 2015, focusing on mobile data collection for the Jordan Meerkat project. Since then he has gone on to manage our Meerkat projects for Somalia and the Central African Republic, as well as setting up data pipelines to improve real time reporting for projects in Somalia and Finland. Jyri is a director of Fjelltopp and the Chief Operations Officer. Prior to joining the team, he worked as an analyst for several health care companies and he holds an MSc in bioinformation technology from Aalto University (Finland).

 

 

 

 

Tomasz Sabala | Started working for the team in 2017 as a developer for our Somalia Meerkat project.  Since then he has gone on to manage our work for the Ukraine.  Tomek joins us with a wealth of prior experience in software engineering and project management. He is a director of Fjelltopp and the Chief Technical Officer.  He holds an Msc in Theoretical Physics from Jagiellonian University (Poland).

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Gunnar Ro | The founding member of our technical team, Gunnar began our work in early 2014 as the technical manager for the Meerkat Project in Jordan and Ukraine.  He was instrumental in opening up new work in Madagascar, Somalia, Ukraine, Central African Republic, WHO EMRO and UNAIDS Geneva. He now works for the Norwegian Public Health Institute, but remains involved with Fjelltopp on a part time basis. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from Durham University (UK) and is currently undertaking an MSc in Epidemiology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  

 

 

 

Mikolaj Kundegorski | Has worked part time with the team since 2016 when he joined the Meerkat projects in Jordan and Madagascar.  He is a specialist in data engineering and is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Glasgow in Applied Mathematics. He holds an Msc in Computational Software Engineering from Cranfield University (UK) and worked as a research associate in computer vision at Durham University (UK). 

 

 

 

 

 

Sue Clark | Joined the team in 2020 as part time office administrator. Sue started her career in quality control and research laboratories in various industries gaining an HNC in Science. She had a career change to office administration in 2007 and is experienced in company and charity administration and bookkeeping using Sage, Quickbooks and Xero.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Chas Nelson | Chas is the Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Research Fellow in Data Science at the University of Glasgow’s School of Physics and Astronomy. He works with Fjelltopp part time and brings a wealth of expertise in statistics, data analysis and visualisation which have been invaluable in our work.  He graduated from Durham University with a PhD in Bio Image Informatics and a BSc Joint Honours in Biology and Physics.

 

 

 

 

Michal Full | Michal is helping us to strengthen and secure our cloud infrastructure environments, beginning with the AIDS Data Repository for UNAIDS. Michal has 20 years of professional experience in designing and managing heterogeneous architecture in on premise, public cloud and hybrid environments. He started his career as a system administrator, moved into a consultant role then as a cloud DevOps engineer and a team leader. He discovered public cloud in 2011 and stayed there, mainly AWS but also GCP, Azure and others. Michal specializes in IaaC, CI/CD, and security.

  

 

 

Toavina Hajaina Andriamihaingo | Toavina is helping us with our AIDS Data repository, Navigator and Malawi document management work. He has been working in the field of public health information management for more than eight years after qualifying with a masters in computer science and majored in artificial intelligence. He is an experienced backend developer and data engineer, having trained thousands of health workers to use IT health systems under  Madagascan Ministry of Health and WHO country office. A native of Madagascar, he also speaks English, French and Japanese.
